What If The Forklift Engine Smokes?

No need to panic, first of all, Bonwell Industrial Forklift takes you to understand the cause and treatment of the forklift smoking. You can handle it according to the situation that occurs!


    First, the forklift exhausts black smoke

      (1) The diesel engine load exceeds the regulations, and the load is reduced to within the specified range.

      (2) The oil supply of each cylinder is not uniform, adjust the fuel injection pump

      (3) Incorrect valve clearance, poor valve sealing, resulting in valve leakage, combustion deterioration Adjusting valve clearance, checking the sealing cone and eliminating defects

      (4) The fuel injection advance angle is too small, the fuel injection is too late, so that some fuel is burned in the exhaust pipe, and the fuel injection advance angle is adjusted.

      (5) Insufficient intake air volume: Air filter or intake pipe is blocked, turbocharger compressor casing is dirty, cleaning and removing dust and dirt, if necessary, replacing filter element

     (6) The turbocharger elastic gas seal ring is burned or worn, the turbine joint surface leaks, etc., check or replace the gas seal ring; tighten the joint surface screw.

       Second, forklift exhaust cap white smoke

     (1) Injector oil injection is poorly atomized, there is dripping phenomenon, the injection pressure is too low, check the nozzle parts, and repair or replace. Re-adjust the injection pressure to the specified range.

     (2) When the diesel engine is started, the individual cylinders do not burn (especially in winter), increase the speed and load appropriately, and run for a while.


       Third, the forklift exhausts blue smoke

     (1) The air filter is clogged, the intake air is not smooth, or the oil in the oil pan is too much (oil bath type air filter), the air filter is removed and cleaned, and the oil is reduced to the specified plane.

     (2) The piston ring is stuck or worn too much, and the elasticity is insufficient. When the piston ring is chamfered in the installation direction, the oil enters the combustion chamber, the piston ring is removed, and if necessary, replaced.

     (3) Long-term low load (less than 40% of the rated power), the gap between the piston and the cylinder liner is large, so that the oil can easily enter the combustion chamber, and the load is appropriately increased;

     (4) If the oil in the oil pan is too much, add the oil to the oil mark.


       4. There is moisture condensation in the exhaust of the forklift: the cylinder head cracks, so that the coolant enters the cylinder and replaces the cylinder head.
