I know that marine high-strength steel plates are used for welding -16Mn because of good Mn elasticity, high strength and good welding performance. Contains 16/1000 carbon and 1/1000 manganese.
The normal steel plate, that is, the Q235 plate or the old code A3 plate, contains 15/1000 or less of carbon and does not contain manganese.
The rest of the elemental composition is mainly iron (Fe), the difference between the two is that the latter has no Mn and a small amount of carbon.
